The Primary Arms SLx 3x MicroPrism Scope is designed to be smaller and lighter than many red dots while offering crystal clear glass with 3x magnification. Even in close quarters, the optic’s wide field of view and forgiving eye relief makes it easy to snap on target. It also features 13 illumination settings with AutoLive motion sensing on/off technology and multiple night vision compatible options.
Because the SLx 3x MicroPrism uses an etched reticle with adjustable diopter, the user will always have a clear, crisp reticle image, even if they have severe astigmatism. When set to max illumination, the MicroPrism reticle is fully daylight bright. For low light, this optic offers 3 different NV-compatible settings, accommodating any ambient light level. Paired with Primary Arm’s AutoLive motion sensing illumination technology, this optic provides an exceptionally long runtime at any brightness setting.
The package also includes ruggedized mounting system with industry standard mini prism footprint, guaranteeing reliability and zero retention through heavy use and adverse conditions. Out of the box, this mount can be set for 8 different mounting heights and configurations, ensuring compatibility with any rifle system.

The ACSS Raptor 5.56/.308-YP reticle is part of Primary Arm’s patented ACSS Reticle series.

Optimized for Primary Arms SLx MicroPrism, the ACSS-Raptor5.56/.308-YP reticle adopts the features of their beloved ACSS Raptor reticle to a prismatic optic design. The brightly illuminated outer horseshoe improves acquisition speed for close quarters shooting, while the center chevron acts as an infinitely precise aiming point for enhanced accuracy. This reticle also includes auto ranging ballistic holdovers for 5.56, .308, and similar cartridges in 100-yard increments with included 5-mph and 10-mph crosswind holds.

The ACSS-RAPTOR-7.62×39/300BO-YP brings the same features as Primary Arms 5.56/.308 reticle, except the holdovers match 7.62×39 and .300 AAC Blackout ballistics. At close range, users can rely on the bold outer horseshoe and infinitely precise center chevron for fast and accurate target acquisition. As range increases, users can use the auto ranging ballistic holdovers and accompanying 5 mph and 10 mph wind holds, which are set in 100 yard increments.

Haven’t put this thing through a torture test, but the build quality seems good. I’ve mounted this optic on an sbr 22lr rifle for hunting and it works great, the magnification is good enough, and the small size and simplicity of this optic is great. Also the illumination works great under low light and the NV setting actually works. I have a PVS-14 and can use it to shoot through the microprism at night which is awesome. Finally, the glass is clear enough for a 3x optic. It might not be as clear as some top end German or Japanese glass… But it’s good enough to get the job done.
I have the 1x microprism on an AR-10, and the 1x holds zero just fine so I suspect this 3x Microprism will do the same. Compared to the 1x version of this optic, the 3x version has a larger ACSS reticle because of the greater magnification This is a good thing because the larger size allows you to actually use the holdovers. The 1x version’s ACSS reticle was just too small.
There are some downsides to this optic. The first downside is was that the knob to adjust the illumination of the reticle is very, very tight. If you have weaker hands, it is going to be quite difficult to turn the knob. However over time, the knob on my microprism seems to be breaking in and getting easier to turn… Or I’m getting stronger.
The second downside is the less forgiving eye relief compared to the 1x. This might just be the nature of small and magnified prism scopes…. The cantilevered spacer eliminates the problem of the short eye relief. However, for my 22LR rifle, I would prefer to not use a space and keep the optic closer to the bore. Also, the cantilevered mount is less structurally sound then not using it, and if you drop your rifle, it would seem very easy to bend your optic mount.
But there are always tradeoffs for everything. And for a sub $300 optic (with coupon code KZ10), the designers or the Microprism have struck a great balance between price, clarity, ruggedness, small size, and functionality.

Liked it so much, I bought another one. Not sure how Kenzie Optics carries the 3x with a green reticle and PrimaryArms doesn’t, but it is what it is. If you want the 3x with green, this is probably the only place you’ll find it. Next time I have another $300 lying around, I’ll probably get another one. They’re that good.

Worked with firearms for 35 years, work and leisure, and have gone through cheap and expensive sighting options. This was my second Primary Arms “red dot” application, but I’ve purchased longer-range scopes and LPVOs by PA. All have been affordable, and decent quality. Unlike traditional red dots, the PA ACSS reticle being etched on the glass means day shooting doesn’t require batteries. As for night shooting, I can’t say, as I haven’t had the need, yet. The biggest thing to get used to is you need to focus this optic to your visual acuity. When you pick up an EOTech HWS or Trijicon ACOG, there’s no need to focus. Not a big deal if you’re the only one using it, but if you hand the optic attached to a firearm to a buddy, it may take a minute for him to focus the optic for his eyesight. The eye box/eye relief for the EOTech is more forgiving than both the Primary Arms microprism and Trijicon ACOG, but the Primary Arms sweet spot is easy to set. Small, extremely light-weight compared to other options, and so far, rugged enough. Some may argue green over red reticle or vice versa. I’m not that particular, and during day shooting, I don’t turn on the light. I’d recommend the PA ARD that is available for this optic, also. Perfect optic for the truck gun. Highly recommended.
