Trijicon RM08 Dual Illuminated RMR
The Trijicon RM08 Dual Illuminated RMR features a 12.9 MOA triangle reticle in green or amber and uses fiber optics and tritium to illuminate the reticle. Fiber optics collect ambient light, automatically adjusting the reticle brightness. In situations with no light, the tritium illuminates the reticle. This version is popular with shooters who prefer a battery free solution. The triangle can be used in two unique ways the tip of the triangle offers a fine aiming solution for precision shooting or shooting at distance, or the entire reticle can be used for quick acquisition in close shooting situations.

I added the green 12.9 MOA RMR to my Benelli M4 and find it to be very well suited to shotgun use. The reticle is huge at 100 yards, even 50 yards, but given the purpose of a tactical shotgun I find it perfect for quick acquisition, and is on target for all practical purposes. I don’t shoot it a lot, so at 50 yards, firing slugs while standing, my group was within a 12″ circle. It’s true that from a dark place looking towards a bight light source the reticle washes out, so if that’s an issue for you get a battery operated unit. The dark/light contrast effect really happens for any red/green/amber dot optic, but the battery units can be adjusted as needed.
