The Forward Controls Design SBCG N Black Nitride AR-15 Bolt Carrier Group is a premium M16-pattern BCG designed for shooters who demand dependable performance, durable construction, and thoughtful engineering. Built around a USGI-spec carrier and Forward Controls Design’s Secure Staking system, the SBCG-N combines proven AR-15 operating geometry with a durable black nitride finish on the bolt, carrier, and cam pin.
The Forward Controls Design SBCG N bolt carrier is machined from AISI 8620 steel to USGI specifications and features a dimpled and serrated surface forward of the gas vents. This unique design provides additional purchase for manually closing an out-of-battery bolt on slick-side upper receivers without a forward assist. The carrier also retains traditional forward-assist pawl notches, maintaining compatibility with standard forward-assist equipped AR-15 uppers.
Forward Controls Design’s Secure Staking system utilizes Ned Christiansen’s Optimized Carrier Key Screws (OCKS). These specialized screws feature aggressive knurling that allows carrier key material to engage the screw head when properly staked, creating an additional layer of security against screw movement. The gas key is torqued to specification and properly staked before the BCG leaves the factory.
The Forward Controls Design SBCG N AR-15 bolt is manufactured from properly heat-treated AISI 9310 steel, stress relieved, shot peened, and individually magnetic particle inspected (MPI). It incorporates a Sprinco 5-coil heavy-duty extractor spring with a black insert or O-ring. The firing pin protrusion is checked and each SBCG is individually test fired for function.
The black nitride treatment provides a durable, corrosion-resistant surface with smooth operating characteristics and makes the BCG easier to clean.
