The Vortex Defender-CCW Enclosed Solar Micro Multi-Reticle Green Dot (DFCCW-MGD3-E) is a rugged, compact pistol red dot designed specifically for concealed carry and personal protection. Combining a fully enclosed 7075 aluminum housing with dual solar and battery power, this enclosed green dot sight is built to provide dependable performance through changing environmental and lighting conditions. The Defender-CCW is Vortex’s first micro red dot to combine Solar Auto D-TEC technology with a multi-reticle system in a fully enclosed design, giving concealed carry users a highly adaptable aiming solution.
Vortex Defender-CCW Enclosed Green Multi-Reticle
At the center of the DFCCW-MGD3-E is its multi-reticle system, offering three reticle options to accommodate different shooting situations. Shooters can select a precise 3 MOA green dot, a fast-acquisition 32 MOA circle, or a combination of the 3 MOA dot and 32 MOA circle. The sight provides 12 brightness settings, including 10 daylight settings and two night-vision settings, allowing the reticle to be adjusted to match a variety of lighting conditions. The green reticle provides an alternative point of aim that may be easier to see in certain lighting conditions or for shooters who have difficulty distinguishing other reticle colors.
The Vortex Defender-CCW Enclosed emitter design helps protect the optic’s internal components from dust, moisture, and impacts. Its durable 7075 aluminum housing is paired with waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof construction for added durability in demanding conditions. A large viewing window provides a wide field of view to help facilitate rapid target acquisition, while the Fast-Rack textured grip provides an additional tactile surface for manipulating the optic when necessary.
Power management is another key feature of the DFCCW-MGD3-E. Solar Auto D-TEC technology detects available light and automatically draws power from either the solar panel or CR2032 battery as needed. According to Vortex, average battery runtime is approximately 35,000 hours when using the 3 MOA dot at brightness setting 6 without solar assistance, while Solar Auto D-TEC can extend battery runtime up to 150,000 hours. Motion activation and a 10-minute automatic shutoff further help manage power while keeping the optic ready when needed. A button lockout helps prevent unintended adjustments.
Built around a Shield RMSc footprint, the Defender-CCW Enclosed Solar Micro Green Dot is compatible with a wide range of handgun applications, from full-size pistols to micro-compacts. The optic measures 1.59 inches in length and weighs 1.30 ounces, making it a compact addition to a concealed-carry setup.
