The Vortex Defender-ST Enclosed Solar Micro Multi-Reticle Green Dot (DFST-MGD3-E) is a rugged, adaptable enclosed red dot sight built for tactical shooting across pistols, shotguns, and carbines. Combining a fully enclosed 7075 aluminum housing with dual solar and battery power, the Vortex Defender-ST Enclosed Green Dot is designed to protect the emitter from impact and environmental exposure while providing a versatile aiming solution in changing conditions. Vortex Defender-ST Enclosed Solar Micro Green Dot Reticle
The Defender-ST features a bright green multi-reticle system with three selectable configurations: a precise 3 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle for rapid target acquisition, or a combination of the 3 MOA dot and 32 MOA circle. The optic provides 12 illumination settings, including 10 daylight settings and two night-vision settings, allowing users to adjust reticle brightness to suit different lighting conditions. The optic also remembers the selected reticle and brightness settings after being turned off and back on.
Power management is handled by Vortex’s Solar Auto D-TEC technology, which detects available light and automatically draws power from the solar panel or CR2032 battery as needed. At setting 6 with the 3 MOA dot and without solar assistance, the Defender-ST provides an average battery runtime of 35,000 hours. With Solar Auto D-TEC, battery runtime can extend up to 150,000 hours. Motion activation and a 10-minute auto-shutoff further help manage power. When Auto-Shutoff is enabled, the optic automatically turns back on when motion is detected after the firearm is picked up.
Built for demanding use, the Defender-ST incorporates an enclosed aluminum housing that helps shield the emitter from debris and moisture. The optic is waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof, while the large viewing window provides a wide field of view for rapid target acquisition. A Fast-Rack textured grip adds a tactile surface, and a button lockout helps prevent accidental changes to the optic’s settings.
The DFST-MGD3-E uses the DeltaPoint Pro mounting footprint, allowing it to work with pistols cut for a DeltaPoint Pro footprint. The optic measures approximately 1.8 inches long, 1.3 inches wide, and 1.2 inches high, with a weight of approximately 1.6 ounces with the battery installed. It provides unlimited eye relief, 1x magnification, a parallax-free aiming point, and 1 MOA adjustment graduations.
